I almost skipped on this one based on the names of the band and album and even that blinding cover art. Sounded and looked silly. Then I saw it was a Nuclear War Now! Productions release, so I went ahead. As expected with most of that label's releases, this stuff is pretty extreme and "messy in a charming way"™. The band brand their music as "neuropunk". Think thrash mixed with death metal and punk and you're not too far off. The vocals can sound a bit weird at times, mixing crossover thrash with black/death screams, I guess. It takes some getting used to, but ultimately they fit this unholy mess. If you're not afraid of some of NWN!'s extreme, messy signings, then this is another one that you may want to check out. Interesting, to say the least, and on more or less regular rotation here for the past few weeks and strangely, it keeps getting better. |
