Killgasm will sweep the floors with your face. Behind the cool album name hides an unholy bloodbath of speedy, sharp mix of blackened death metal and grindcore. The sound is surprisingly polished for the genre, but it's actually a plus here as this is, at times, so fast and loaded that a muddier production would likely make the album at least partly unlistenable. I really didn't know what to expect going in, but this turned out to be a nice surprise overall. The more grindcore parts are obviously a low point and the occasional gargly, "puke" vocals just don't fit with the rest. Thankfully that doesn't go on throughout the album but only on a couple of songs. This is probably as good as it gets when mixing the aforementioned genres, and Killgasm did a good job of it. |
