This is one from a stack of old promos that I had misplaced when I moved a few years ago. After hearing this, I wish I had left that box taped where it was. Butcher sounded promising: good traditional-style straightforward heavy metal songs are sprinkled throughout the album. That's the good part. But the band found it... hmmm... necessary? to add a bunch of short tracks that are basically radio ads which have nothing to do with anything. Not only does this break the mood, but it's extremely annoying and there are several of them. Add a couple of songs that sport some atrocious vocal work, and the bad outweighs the good. It's too bad because the good songs are really good, but all the crap they threw on just take the fun away. I guess I could just rip the CD and keep only the good stuff to make it a good short album, but why the hell should I have to do that? Shame. |
