Ice War's self-titled album sounds like a trip back in time to the late 70s when the NWOBHM was raging. Their brand of metal has pretty much all the elements. Decent but a bit amateurish vocals that will just charm you and stick in your head, "simple" but catchy songs served with a rather lo-fi sound and production, very "DIY" in style and also just part of the charm. Ice War also have a little bit of Iron Maiden in their sound, using galloping riffs abundantly and some of the guitar parts could have very well been on the first couple of Maiden albums. This is not great, yet it's an album that begs for the repeat button. This is one that's been on regular rotation here for a while. |
