This is the debut for Aetheric, a Death Metal band from Minnesota, of all places. I was not prepared at all for the impressive barrage of brutality on display here. Aetheric mix percussive rhythms reminiscent of Tech Death with a bright, sharp sense of melody that almost recalls Gothenburg. So this is very much a mix of Florida-styled US Death Metal shot through with blazes of melodic riff and lead work that illuminate the songs like bolts of lightning. Shredding, aggressive, hooky, and inventive, this is a really first-rate debut. |
