Strangely, I had never heard of this Montreal band before. Metal-Archives lists them as melodic death metal but I'd say on Invaders I'm hearing a strong death/thrash vibe though the melodic death sound is unmistakably present and there's also a blackened vibe going on. This is a fun album that mixes an aggressive, sometimes dark vibe with some more lighthearted, catchy moments that make the album memorable and, yes, there's that urge to sing along to some of the choruses while raising your fist in the air. No doubt that "Para Bellum" has to be a hit at live shows – it's just one of those songs. The vocal style is what you'd expect from melodic death and, to some extent, death/thrash, but there's also a bit of "cleaner" singing that doesn't feel out of place, something I find rarely works well but these guys have nailed it. Lots of replay value with this one.
