Seeing the words 'industrial' and 'Death Metal' in the same sentence sends cold chills running down my spine. In my book, it's only on rare occasions that Death Metal with industrial elements is a combination that works. The defunct Canadian Inner Thought was probably the last band that I really cared for in the Industrial/Death Metal field. Chilean HateGrama is kind of a modern-sounding Death Metal act with an Industrial flavor and it is no competition to anything Inner Thought left behind 20+ years ago. HateGrama sounds a bit too modern (or 'core-ish') for my picky taste, although they are not the kind of band that I loathe or despise. Songs like "Hominis Evolutiva" and "Androide Sintetico" are actually surprisingly pleasing numbers; both having a pretty menacing, thrashing outer space feel. Same with "Infinito". The album isn't bad, but would need to get away from the modern sound. |
