Victimized, or Victim Iced as they seem to be called nowadays, hail from northeastern Greece, Xanthi, and here we have the trio's self-released debut album, The Sinner's Plead. There's a lot to be liked on this record if the sort of sophisticated and well controlled Thrash Metal à la Megadeth is your cup of an iron drink. Not only does Samos Angelos on vocals and guitar remind me of Mr. Mustaine's snarling vocal delivery (with hints of Venom's Cronos). The band also tends to explore outside the Thrash Metal box every now and then like they do on "Eyes Sewn Shut," getting even a bit experimental and mellow-sounding. I also like the creepy beginning of "Never in Control" and it's actually pretty confusing how much Samos sounds like Cronos on this one. The ending of the song is also as heavy as it can just be, thanks to those very powerful guitar riffs. The title track, "The Sinner's Plead," is also one solid, mid-tempo-ish number in which the vocals rhyme very well with all the instrumentation around it. The last song, "All of Us," just adds more heaviness to the ensemble, whilst Samos' vocal delivery still keeps on amazing me every time he opens his mouth. Watch out, Mr. Mustaine and Cronos!
