Joe Liszt has been kicking serious ass in the Metal scene with his acts Hellhound, Shadowkiller and, of course, Ancient Empire. The Tower closes the trilogy started by the band with When Empires Fall (2014) in high fashion, from visceral and well-executed tunes such as the title track and "Darker Side of Midnight" – both well into US Power territory – to more mid-tempo ones like "Endless Curse". My personal favorites here are "Dawn of Forever", "Yesterday's Hero" and "The Last Sunset", but every ounce of this album is well deserving of your money and praises. This is the most Power Metal album of Ancient Empire's career, and it's also the most epic and riff-oriented one. To sum it up, The Tower is one of the most honest, passionate and addictive shit you'll hear these days. An instant classic (like their older siblings already are), the album delivers far more than mere mortals or casual listeners are used to in their daily doses of Metal and blows everything in its path. Brother, it's hard to get better than this, so take my word for it and accept this killer gift to you, to me and to Heavy Metal. |
