Evil Sound Screamers is the second release from Detroit's Acid Witch that I've reviewed and like 2015's Midnight Movies, their brand of death metal is doing nothing for me. Musically, they sound like a doomy King Diamond, if he only used his growl, as their lyrics are centered on scary topics, but what drives me nuts is the spoken-word parts. Acid Witch rely heavily on intros to set up songs and most are looong, like 30 seconds or more. Many times, I thought, "get to the song, already!" and I'm sure impatience isn't what a band should be inspiring in their listeners. Musically, this is a middling album at best and the overuse of spoken-word intros makes it a disjointed and interminable chore. Pass.
