Frantic Amber, who have been around since the year 2008, have released one EP (Wrath of Judgement), and three singles that have been available digitally only prior to this debut full-length album. Burning Insight is released independently, and it's a very solid album. Frantic Amber has often been compared to Arch Enemy musically (and not only due to Elizabeth's growls that undoubtedly have much the same nuances with Angela Gossow's vocal style). While Arch Enemy's Melodic Death Metal is based on tricky, technical wankery, Frantic Amber count more on stripped-down solutions for their partly very harsh and mean sounding, beautiful melodies oozing Death Metal. To their credit it must be said they actually sound more entertaining and pleasing to the ear than Arch Enemy have in many years. For example, songs like "Bleeding Sanity", "Drained" and "Necrotic Revelation" would push Mr. Amott himself back to his home studio in shame. You don't necessarily have to have a countless number of riffs and tempo changes squeezed into one song to make it work. Check out Frantic Amber if well crafted, dark and nicely flowing Melodic Death Metal makes your ears burn. |
