Brutal and heavy Death Metal from La Serana, Chile, anyone? These Death Metal mongers blast away 10 songs in just 20+ minutes on their debut album, Sandbox Tree. Basically, I like everything about them except Francisco Jeldrez's occasional pig squeals that always seem to ruin everything to dust for me. His Antti Boman-like (Antti who? Of Demilich fame, of course, all of you ignorant bastards, ha!) guttural grunts are tastefully done though. Overall, Hura Crepitans seem to know their shit but at the end of the day, they unfortunately tend to sound a bit too generic and unimaginative. The initial curiosity charm rapidly wears off, which is a pity. Also, they should earn some extra minus points for the absolutely disgusting and horrendous album cover artwork. Ugly as hell it definitely is, oh yeah... |
