Holland's underground extremists Inquisitor, buried 6(66) feet under back in 1997, were resurrected in 2014. The band's carcass that was left to rot in its wooden coffin for 17 years crawled back among us mortals to crucify all of us on our crosses with gigantic, rusty nails once again. Inquisitor's second full-length outing, titled Stigmata Me, I'm in Misery, is lots of fun to listen to, with the band's hysteric, slightly punk-ish and extreme Thrash Metal approach. They are in a league or their own with the musical style they churn out on this record, really pushing forward hard, fast, and at times even directionless. At first, they crucify the Nazarene on "Castigate into Divine Apostle," and as if that wasn't enough, they re-crucify this bastard on "Hammering Rusty Nails." And finally, they end up sealing the gates of Hell on "Hate, Misery, Torture & Dismay." As a minor but not trivial side note, it should also be mentioned that Wim van der Valk behind the skins is a true animal, bashing the skins like a raving mad Tyson in the ring. Also, one cannot ignore Alek Bakker's very audible and tricky bass. The guy's just a badass fuckin' wizard! If you have never heard of these Dutch Metal warriors before but are still familiar with the twisted playing styles of such names as Necrodeath, early Sadus, or early Impaled Nazarene, then here's something right up your alley I believe. To the fuckin' cross...!! |
