It's always a bit weird to review a LP as a mp3 promo. This is the reissue of Auroch's 2012 album with no bonus tracks, so it's really to cater to the vinyl crowd and I guess the new artwork must look pretty cool in large size. These Canadians played some hard-thrashing death metal with the emphasis on the death metal side of things, though those thrashers who can stomach growling vocals will appreciate the omnipresent thrash riffage. Auroch do a good job of marrying heaviness and speed and packing the ensemble into a dark and crushing atmosphere. I can't say that this is the kind of album that leaves much behind once it's over, but it's pretty intense while it's on. |
