Australia's Night Legion play a very gritty, thrashy brand of power metal on their self-titled debut. Many of the songs move along at a good clip and the vocals are adorned with plenty of echo, giving them that 80s sound. I found the songwriting to be consistently good but not overly creative, which means the album is a pleasure while it is on but doesn't have much of an identity with the exception of closer "Titan." The big riffs are finally paired with a chorus that sticks in your head. The lead work is another strong point for Night Legion. Here's another band fans of old-school metal will want to keep their eyes on. |
