Compilations are usually longer than regular albums but, at just under 26 minutes, I'm pretty sure this is the shortest one I've seen. Hey, it's what's in it that counts. Ossuary Insane present some very old school, raw, messy, basic death metal with an occasional black metal vibe. Heaviness is preferred over sheer speed – this is actually not very speedy – and the vocals are kind of sick, the vocalist pretty much barking into the microphone. That takes a little bit of getting used to, but it's very fitting with the musical style. There's a charming demo-like sound that makes the whole thing sound even more barebones, to good effect. Good stuff. |
