Here's a co-release from Costa Rican Spiritismo Records and Russian Symbol of Domination Prod. (a sub-label of Satanath Records), bringing us Costa Rican blackened Speed Metallers Culto Negro's 7-track EP, which had previously been released both digitally and on cassette. There's something appealing in these Costa Rican Speed Metal warriors' relentless and primitive Black/Speed Metal which reminds me of early Slayer and Possessed here and there. The playing is overall good and at times even relatively hooky and catchy (despite sounding pretty primitive most of the time), but as a negative criticism, the Spanish-sung vocals could be much better. The vocals sound like a hungry dog barking at worst, while at best they show a glimpse of something better, which isn't strong enough. Culto Negro try hard, but they don't quite manage to impress me enough on this 7-track effort. You can just do better, I am sure of that. |
