Khaoz hails from the Netherlands, featuring both current and former members of Sinister, Bloodphemy, Temple and so on. Their chosen musical style since 2008 has uncompromisingly been Death Metal, with some clear overtones squeezed from Thrash as well. I, Creator of Damnation brings a pretty talented yet somehow kind of disturbed sounding act out into the daylight. By disturbed I mean primarily this specific combination of vocals, in which Olav's growls gets blended with Johan's pretty sick sounding snarly screams that together create an unusual effect. As for the song structures, the use of varying thrashy riffs and quick tempo changes, from limb-heavy moments to nearly some pedal-to-the-metal type of total beating, definitely raises Khaoz up on the next level. Old school as fuck Death Metal this definitely is, often bringing back to the heydays of 90s Death Metal when such names as Unleashed, God Dethroned, Sinister and many other acts with the samey ink in their sound ruled the face of the Earth. I, Creator of Damnation is a nice throwback to the times when Death Metal enjoyed all the attention under some of the brightest limelight. |
