This is a short and sweet brutal death metal EP that packs a lot of action in its short length. I'm generally not too fond of the technical side of death metal, but Hatred Reigns have managed to throw that in without sounding too sterile to my ears; basically, they achieved a good balance between showing off their technical proficiency without taking the life away from their songs. Those death growls are not too guttural and not too addictive. It's fast and pounding with some crazy-ass passages, but you also get a few melodic passages scattered throughout. It's not exactly original (I know, I say that a lot), but the band knows how to hit the sweet spot in the genre.
