Ottawa's Deämon haven't exactly been the most prolific band with one EP, one demo and three albums since 1997, but their albums are at the very least decent, when not downright great. Condemned to Darkness follows in the same path as Descend Dethrone: unrelenting, fast, heavy, pounding death metal with harsh growls that take the centre stage. Good thing the vocalist knows how to growl, though don't expect too much in terms of "decipherability" as his vocals are as fast and unrelenting as the music. These guys play it pedal to the metal and you won't find much in the way of slowing down here; no little interlude or anything like that to give you a few seconds to catch your breath. It's fast, it's heavy, it's played tight and sweeps the floor with you. Oooohhh yeeaaaahh. |
