I've been enjoying the heck out of this, like most other Necrodeath albums I own, for that matter. Blackened thrash is what this band is all about, and they do it very well. What I find sets them apart is how there's a big heavy metal vibe to it as well, often reminding me of King Diamond and Mercyful Fate in terms of atmosphere – that little horror/mystery sound just stands out here and contributes to a rather melodic sound that somehow doesn't take anything away from the basic black/thrash sound, with riffs-a-plenty and some really well-done guitar and drum work. I'm almost tempted to call that this is what King Diamond would sound like if they played black/thrash. An album that draws you in and doesn't let go. |
