After reviewing the very good Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I decided to grab Lycanthro's first release, this self-titled EP release just over a year earlier. This is, of course, not as polished as their second EP, with a much rawer sound and you can tell that the guys are still honing their skills as a band. That's actually what makes its charm. The raw, DIY, kind of garage-band demo sound is a good fit for the fast, heavy and catchy material presented here, and I dare you not to at least tap your foot throughout the whole duration. Excuse while I air-guitar to this solo... OK, I'm back. Old school heavy metal never gets old, and Lycanthro do it right. These guys had better have more material in the oven. |
