Empiresfall. You know when a band's name doesn't inspire you to play the album? Well, that was my loss since I had it all this time and this turned out to be some pretty awesome thrash. Germany was a thrash power early on and it's nice to see a newer band keeping the tradition alive. Empiresfall actually formed some 10 years ago, but they only have one EP and two albums under their belt so far. Well, like I always say: Quality over quantity. A Piece to the Blind borrows a little from the various schools of thrash in a near-perfect recipe. Whether you like your thrash clean, raw, catchy, with good hints of melodies, with cleaner or rawer vocals, you're bound to find something to like here. That's one hell of a feat for a band to accomplish. This album has it all. What more can I say? I find it impossible to do this album justice with a few words. Fast, catchy, memorable riffs and melodies, fucking cool solos and a raw vocal style with vocal lines that just beg for you to sing along (I literally cannot listen to this at work). It's just sad that it's relatively short, but I could just end this with the same sentence that ended the previous paragraph. I don't know if Empiresfall's previous material is anywhere this good, but I certainly hope these guys can keep this up, for A Place to the Blind has put the bar pretty high. |
