Hexx is a band that has changed styles a few times since 1983. This is not a new album, but rather a compilation of two EPs: Quest for Sanity (1988) and Watery Graves (1990). That was in the band's thrash period and we can see them inching toward death metal in terms of speed and brutality. At times they remind me a bit of mid-80s Kreator and Slayer with a hint of Kill 'em All-era Metallica, which is definitely a good thing. Raw, fast with harsh raspy thrash vocals, this is overall a nice chunk of old school thrash. That stuff will get you thrashing into walls at its fastest, and headbanging, fist in the air at its catchiest. Nice to see this stuff being reissued. |
