This band is certainly all about creating a bleak and bitter mood, but that's not all they do. This has that definite "Black/Doom" recording job, and the compositions are reminiscent of mid-period Forgotten Tomb, though they are not really as good. The band kind of segues between more traditional Black Metal passages that come across as more generic, but then they slow down and wring out shaded Doom riffs and they really shine. There's a definite bit of Cascadian sounds, but also a dedication to sheer heaviness that keeps this more visceral than ethereal. I can't say this band is blazingly original, but they have taken their rather obvious influences and made a mixture that sounds like its own thing. A band to watch. |
