This is a weird album. Membrance are an Italian Death Metal band who incorporate a more traditional riff style that sometimes borders on a "death n' roll" sound, which I despise, and it does not work well here. The production is too smooth to be exciting, and the bouncy rhythms and groovy licks sound out of place with the harsh vocals. There's also a certain jazzy sensibility working in here, and in general this seems like a band who should just go ahead and be some kind of joke act and stop bothering the grownups.
