The Apostates is an interesting album from French Glorior Belli, mixing black metal—the late ā90s/early 2000s French sound—with some black ānā roll-ish passages here and there. What sets this album further apart from the crowd is that they also throw in some blend of heavy metal, rock and a little bit of alternative rock, which is something Iād usually steer clear of, but the band has managed to make this unholy mix work as a cohesive ensemble. Despite some tracks being more upbeat while others are more doomy or "evil" sounding, it all kind of works together. The result is a very rich album with something new to discover on every listen. |
