Druadan Forest is a Finnish one-man band dedicated to one thing: Summoning. There has been an upswing in bands walking consciously in the shadow of that mighty band in recent years, and Druadan Forest is certainly successful in recreating that smooth, epic aspect of the later Summoning sound. If you liked Oath Bound or Old Mornings Dawn, then this is a slightly cleaner, more atmospheric take on that sound, with a heavier emphasis on keys and a lack of the pounding war-drums Summoning use to help amp up the heaviness. It’s pretty good mood music, but it lacks the real substance of the band it is following.
