This is a short split (one song per band) between Romania’s Satanochio and Greece’s Aenaon. The Satanochio song is pretty decent, if a bit messy, mostly because of the vocals that alternate between black metal rasps and clean vocals. The atmosphere resembles that of Cradle of Filth, though the music itself is more in your face and even has a bit of a black ‘n’ roll-ish vibe at times. The song is pretty diverse, maybe a bit too much for its own good. Aenaon’s song is heavier and more of a black/death affair, less "pretty" than what Satanochio offer on the other side. These guys also mix vocal styles, this time between a death-ish growl and an annoying screechy style that almost ruins the song. I mean, seriously, what the hell? Crunchy guitars save the day on this one and overall this is a more straightforward song than what their split buddies did. Not great but decent, so if you’re into splits and can get it cheap, it’s an interesting listen. |
