This is my first time hearing one of Dee Snider's solo albums. As expected, this is pretty commercial but still rocks pretty hard. The album is mostly very catchy though it does have a couple of sub-par tracks that are downright annoying, especially "Dead Hearts (Love Thy Enemy)" which is quite skip-worthy. It's not very good and just breaks the mood of the album. Snider's voice is still great on this, which is quite impressive as the man isn't a kid anymore! Twisted Sister did heavier stuff, less commercial stuff on their early albums, and I'd say this stands somewhere between that era and their later, commercial era (which pretty much killed them at some point). If you're looking for accessible metal with a bit of a hard rocking vibe, this is a good listen. |
