I don't need to go talking about how Grave Digger is one of the most classic German Metal bands or lecture you on how their 90s run was amazing and bla, bla, bla, so I'll just jump right to the fact that Chris Boltendahl and longtime friends are slowly—but steadily—losing their steam and releasing less powerful albums in the last few years. While Jens Becker and Stefan Arnold hold things up valiantly in the background throughout the whole experience, Axel Ritt goes crazy in the guitar distortion and sort of loses himself in his lack of inspiration. Boltendahls' voice is still good and the overall experience here is actually good, with songs such as "When Death Passes By", "Shadow of the Warrior" and "The Power of Metal" stealing the show, but fillers like "Hymn of the Damned" and the horrible, HORRIBLE "Zombie Dance" give us an image of a schizophrenic band that are struggling to find their best form again (did I mention how awful "Zombie Dance" is?).

This would probably get a higher rating if it was released by another group, but it's just ok by Grave Digger's standards. As I said above, grandpa Boltendahl and friends are slowly getting weaker by the day, as this is a small step back when compared to Healed by Metal, which in turn is a step back from Return of the Reaper, which in turn ... you get the point. It's nice to see a legendary band still putting up decent work, but I'm starting to fear for Grave Digger's future.
