I don't like this album as much as last year's Divine Cessation, but I can certainly give the band credit for going for a different sound while not compromising their black metal. The sound here is more "muddy", kind of garage-like in a way and this gives the album a more DIY vibe. Everything here sounds more basic but nonetheless quite effective. The gloomy atmosphere is predominant and that's really what draws the listener in. Disturbing, raw, sometimes depressing and sometimes feeling like you're standing in the middle of a full-on ground assault. Lethal combination. |
