The latest release from cult Black Metal band DarkThrone is a compilation of material from their years with label Peaceville Records. A collection of songs from their studio albums, but also some demo and live material. Not surprisingly the music is raw, almost defining "raw" in fact... The production is far from clean, which goes with the territory. The sound level even varies in some tracks. Gotta love it! This is some great stuff from that legendary Black Metal band, although those who have all their albums might prefer to pass on this one, unless they want the stuff not on the studio albums. Personally, this was my first Darkthrone album and I loved it, and I'm slowly buying their other albums. If you like "true" Black Metal and haven't looked into Darkthrone yet, well, maybe it's time you did. |
