I finally caught these thrashing maniacs live a few days ago and got to thinking, "didn't one of their albums slip through the cracks in my promo stack?" Of course... like many others. sigh... Quebec City's Riotor stick to their proven and mastered formula of fast thrash with insane death vocals on Rusted Throne. There's a bit of mid-80s German thrash à la Kreator in here mixed with the more modern death/thrash approach that has become increasingly common in recent years. Riotor manage to throw in enough of an old-school vibe so as to not sound stale nor like hundreds of bands out there. It's all pretty straightforward: heavy, fast, in-your-face and basically an unstoppable train that destroys everything in its path. Bottom line, Rusted Throne repeatedly smashes your head on the ground and you just keep asking for more. |
