This is one of those bands that slipped by me with multiple albums in a style I really, really like. Now I have discovered Iron Kingdom I will have to hunt down their past albums, because this is some good stuff. The band starts with a definite Maiden vibe, adding in a slower, more epic sound akin to bands like Doomsword or Battleroar, and tops it off with a high-pitched, slightly nasal vocalist who calls to mind John Arch more than a little bit. The result is an album full of rolling, crunching rhythms and hooky melodic leads. Not all the songs make the leap into great, but they are all good, and this remains a very solid album from beginning to end. |
