This is the debut for an Oregon band who are definitely in the Cascadian camp, but are going in a harder, darker direction with it rather than verging into post-metal or atmospheric music. This is definitely, defiantly Black Metal, with a fierce, gripping guitar sound and a lot of speed. There is a tremendous amount of melody and shade in the riffage, and so it retains that organic Cascadian sound, but it does not skimp on the pounding drums or the glass-gargling vocal approach. If a lot of Cascadian stuff is too mellow for you, then this is a band to check out. |
