It's a jolly good death metal day for me. I am holding in my hands Spanish death mongers Oniricous' second full-length outing, La Caverna de Fuego, and what a bone-crushing release it is! These lads have chosen to play a dark, heavy and old school death metal in the style of early Demigod, Adramelech (Fin) and Sadistic Intent. The dark and old school death metal has strongly been tagged on their sound and the band doesn't do anything on their second album that would make you say, "Damn, these guys know how to make ORIGINAL death fuckin' metal...!". Oniricous have stuck to the old formula of doing things in the field of death metal and they indeed do know which buttons to push to make it sound right. The band let their destructive torpedoes sink the ships around them. A very solid album from these flag bearers of the ancient death metal sound. Be sure to keep your eyes out for them in the future, dear folks! |
