Here's some hard-hitting thrash straight out of Quebec City. This album turned out to be a little bit of a grower but eventually I couldn't get enough of it. It took me a little while to get used to those maniacally barked vocals that are really front and centre throughout the album. I found that kind of annoying at first, but a few attentive listens ultimately revealed a perfect fit. I am the Night is filled with old school-ish thrash that also takes from the more modern fast and pounding insanity of more extreme genres. This is not thrash for the faint of heart. It's relentlessly pounding, heavy and often sticking a foot on the other side of the fence with death metal. As a bonus, there's a good dose of catchiness here and lots of cool solos and traditional guitar parts hiding here and there, which makes repeated listens all the more fun and interesting.
