Damn. The first song off this EP almost sounds like Testament in the late '80s, the vocals especially. What makes Locked and Loaded an interesting listen is how the style changes from song to song while still sounding like it's the same band. Not an easy feat in just under 15 minutes. Other than a mild thrash vibe with opener "Chemical Solution", "Fallen Angel" is more run-of-the-mill modern heavy metal ("modern" in a good way) while "Moonstruck" has that NWOBHM era vibe, just heavier and faster. The title track closes and is closer in style to "Fallen Angel" but more lighthearted and quite catchier. This EP sounds like the band is trying to find its identity, or maybe they're just going to keep mixing things up. If they do, well, if they can keep it up it sure sounds like they're one of those bands actually able to pull it off. |
