Holy shit, this stuff takes my breath away...!!! Spanish thrash metal squad, Crimson Slaughter, is one of the better acts emerging from this second wave of thrash metal that's been going on for years. Surveillance States is their second album and it blows so many other thrash metal albums out of the water by being an insanely violent and aggressive sounding record. Take portions of Demolition Hammer, early Slayer, and Vio-lence and add these pieces of true thrash madness into one neck-snapping killing feast. Musically these Spanish thrashers bow shamelessly in the direction of those three names, sucking out all the good, worthy ingredients. The album is full of killer thrash anthems. Instead of pushing the brake pedal in the curves, it's a full speed ahead for these lads. Listening to this album makes you ask on what drugs they are because there's just so much hyperbolic aggression being squeezed into the songs on this totally frantic and butt-kicking album. The riffs are great, the solos are short but spot-on, drumming is absolutely crazy, and the hysteric vocals of Victor Sánchez make you scared. This is how thrash metal should be done these days. Fuckin' A, I say! |
