I caught this band live at Thrash Till Death in Trois-Rivières a couple of months ago. It certainly was interesting to see them do their soundcheck with winter coats on, though it's true that usually it's Canadians going down to Mexico this time of year, not the other way around! And even us Canadians felt the cold that day with winter settling in a little early. But enough about winter...

Introtyl is a four-piece all-female death metal band and this is their first full-length album, following a few EPs. Well, at just under 25 minutes it barely qualifies as such, but those are 25 minutes of rather intense death metal, sometimes tiptoeing into brutal territory. Their sound reminds me a lot of the Florida scene and I'm pretty sure they have a thing for Immolation. Good stuff. The vocalist's growls are top-notch and if I don't know, I would never think it's a woman barking out this stuff. Let's not forget the punishing drumming that pins you to the ground. The ensemble is tight and precise and the sound has that post-2000 "cleanliness" that nevertheless doesn't take anything away from the brutality of their metal of death. Recommended.
