Terrorizer is a band with a long history but, not being a fan of grindcore, I never paid attention to them. Caustic Attack is really more like "grinding death metal" so it's more up my alley. How does it fare? Well, they're not the only game in town (duh) and they're basically doing what so many other bands are doing, but at least it's entertaining. The drumming is what holds my attention here, sometimes being insanely fast, sometimes slower but so damn powerful, really holding everything together. The vocals are pretty decent but mostly unremarkable—in a good way. The guitars really only shine in the slower to mid-paced passages where it's easier to appreciate what's going on, while when things are pedal-to-the-metal, they kind of get lost in the onslaught. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I found myself enjoying the slower guitar work more. In short, Caustic Attack is a bit like a tank advancing through a battlefield. |
