Fuuuuck! This album has been on my playlist for a while now and I just can't stop listening to it. This latest album from Gorgon is the work of only one man, founding member Christophe Chatelet, with the help of a session drummer, but you'd think that you're listening to the work of a well-oiled, tight band.
The Veil of Darkness is fucking furious from beginning to end with some songs that are as catchy as they are furious and hate-filled. No way in hell you can listen to this without headbanging like a maniac, fist in the air. The vocals are out of this world, Christophe shouting his way to hell and back and it's amazing how the vocals pair perfectly with the insane speed and heaviness of the music. Songs like "This is War", "Border of the Forest" and "Posthumous Bewitchment", with their speed, furious delivery and catchy vocals instantly stick in your head and haunt you for days after listening to them.
Honestly, I don't think I can do this album justice with words, but I'll say this: I listen to several hundred albums every year and, as such, very few of them stay on my playlist so long or catch my attention as instantly as The Veil of Darkness. It's badass, it's different, it's refreshing, and it's as metal as it gets. Good enough for you?
