Beyond Celestial Echoes is the second full-length from Greece's Sacral Rage and picks up the Agent Steel-inspired speed and high-pitched vocal approach the band begun on the first album. Sacral Rage takes the songwriting in a slightly more progressive direction on this album, a decision that seems to play even more to their strengths. There are some killer riffs and vocal lines accentuated with the odd time change here and there, something the drums emphasize to great effect. Songs like "Suspended Privilege" and "Necropia" are both complex and accessible, no easy task for a band to accomplish. "The Glass," the nearly 15 minutes closer, changes style and mood seamlessly and never loses its way. Fans of Agent Steel, Sanctuary, Crimson Glory and the like should be all over Beyond Celestial Echoes. |
