Debut album for this band that may be more of a project between Swedish multi-instrumentalist Jonny Pettersson and the ubiquitous Kam Lee. Kult of the Raven is a strong debut that walks that same kind of line between Death and Melodic Black Metal as Dissection used to. The riffing is good, alternating between crushingly heavy Death Metal and a more melodic tremolo style, making for compositions that twist and turn and never get dull. Kam's vocals are the expected deep-voiced bellow, and they add the proper edge of brutality. Overall a really entertaining album. |
