The name Ritualizer had me thinking 80s thrash and I could almost picture the Repka artwork but this Brooklyn, NY band plays ballsy traditional metal on their debut EP Blood Oaths. The band is in your face from the get-go with bruising riffs, pummeling drums and banshee wails wall-to-wall across the 21 minutes of Blood Oaths. Vocalist Pamela "P.J." Berlinghof has complete command of the songs and she owns them with her palpable charisma. The songwriting isn't all that varied, but this is a first effort, so that's understandable. If you like female-fronted metal in the vein of Chastain and Crystal Viper, Ritualizer is a band to start watching closely. |
