I first came across this French band when I bought their latest album, F.E.R.T., and then decided to dig into their past discography. Vive la mort! is an EP that precedes that album and it's in the same vein. The lyrics are in French and the vocalist has this way of spitting out the words that sounds downright hateful or haunting, depending on the song. Excellent vocal work here and no words can do it justice. The music is mid to fast-paced black metal with the occasional doomy vibe and even what you could call a little folk-ish, but both aggressive and sorrowful at the same time. Vive la mort!, like F.E.R.T., both conveys and brings out very dark emotions and it's simply impossible not to be moved by this stuff. Powerful, evil, angry, you name it. Top-notch French black metal.
