It took a little while for this one to sink in as it requires more effort from the listener to unearth all that's going on here. This is my first exposure to Imprecation, and I like what I hear. Very heavy death metal with vocals that sound just as heavy, augmented by a very doomy vibe that provides the entire album with a dark, gloomy, malevolent atmosphere, with great results. It's overall slow to mid-paced, which just adds to that crushing feeling that surrounds the listening experience, and there are, of course, a few faster passages to finish you. Albums like this are worth listening to attentively, over and over, for there's a lot of good stuff going on here. And sick artwork to boot. Oh yeah. |
