Old-school Swedish Death Metal from San Salvador, El Salvador is what four-piece act Invocation of Death have to offer, and they do it so well that if I told you they were a Swedish Death Metal band from the golden nineties, you wouldn't know the difference. With a ridiculously down-tuned guitar sound, deep death grunts, and everything else you'd expect when hearing the phrase "Swedish Death Metal", they do their shameless plagiarism of past greats like Grave, Dismember, Gorement and Carnage so well that it's actually very easy to mistake them as their contemporaries. From the moment the opening track "Embrace of Hate" blares out of the speakers, it's clear they love the style to an almost criminal degree. However, they do it so well that they can be forgiven for aping past greats, especially when they sound so convincingly Swedish as they do it. Good stuff. |
