Young Finnish thrashers Maniac Abductor are back for more frenzied, no holds barred Thrash that follows the modern trend of retro-Thrash acts trying to rekindle that spark from that golden age of the '80s, and does so with enthusiasm and style. With razor-sharp riffs, spot-on solos, tasty rhythm work, and vocalist Niklas Pappinen's aggressive, Crossover-tinged delivery, they have everything you could want from a band dedicated to reliving the glory days of Thrash. Songs like "No Hope for You", "Hatebound", "Watery Tomb", and "Thrash Assault" do a great job recalling past greats like Anthrax, Slayer and even Gamma Bomb in places. Their cover of Sepultura's "Troops of Doom" also kicks some serious ass, mostly because they speed it up to make it sound like something Slayer would have made back when they were worth a damn.
Yes, Casualties of Causality may be your typical meat and potatoes Thrash Metal that's a little scant on new material (of the nine songs, two are re-recordings and one is a cover), but it's a damn good heaping of it that'll leave you wanting more. Recommended.
